The first step is to ensure safety of your family. Get everyone away from the affected area, if there is an electrical fire never throw water on it or use a water based fire extinguisher. Call 000 and if possible, turn off the main switch at your switchboard. After emergency services declare the property safe, call an electrician straight away to have the problem resolved. How can i tell if an electrician is licensed?
Ask for proof. Every electrician is required to carry a license with them.


My power/lights keep tripping when something is turned on. What does this mean?
This is usually caused by a faulty appliance, but can be caused by faulty wiring or overloading on a circuit. Unplug the appliance or leave the lights off and give Electrojohny a call.
